 Poetry as an art form has a long and rich history,and going by it's variations like it's use in rap music,is definitely one of the most lucrative forms of art.With increased literacy levels in Kenya,poetry is finding it's place amongst the population,and has a bright future.Indeed from our research,poetry has caught on on Kenyan's under 40 years of age more than any other art form.Good poetry is being celebrated,and it is in this contest that the CHEKI CHEKI poetry festival is being launched as a semi annual three month festival,under the patronage of Fortune Money Publishing House.This first festival will commence on 1st November 2020,and run through to 31st January 2020.

This first festival,dubbed 'origins',will feature poetry contests in four different categories,as explained here Rules,guidelines,categories. .But the festival is more than just contests,and aims to promote the reading of poems,which is the purest form of consuming the art form,allowing it's imagery to come alive in the readers imagination unadulterated.It's also an attempt to welcome the public to the fact that poetry as an art form is very lucrative,and so the prize money for the contests is significant.The festival will see amateur poets turn professional,earning from their work,as they benefit from the largess of the allied sponsors.

Although held in Kenya,any one from anywhere in the world can participate as a sponsor,poet or reader,and we encourage all to send an email to the house at fortunepublishinghouse@gmail.com,for details on how they can best participate.For this inaugural festival,only poems in the English language will be admitted,but in future we will add other languages,like swahili.
