How to participate in the CHEKI CHEKI poetry festival.

There are three ways you can participate in Kenya’s premier poetry event:as a poet,as a reader or as a sponsor. You could also participate in all three ways!To participate send an email to the festival organizer at fortunepublishinghouse@gmail.com,   specifying how you desire to participate. The festival organizer will guide you through the process.

For those intending to participate as poets, send an email to the above given address, giving your name and contacts, and up to three poems per category, specifying in which categories of the contests you are entering them.See the different categories here.Participating poets stand to win awards, prizes and publishing deals.

The CHEKI CHEKI poetry festival is running for three months,November 2020 through to January 2021.For an overview of the festival, see here. The festival has a lot of activity around poetry,as it is a celebration of the art form. For the first week, see some insights on poetry here, and the theme being considered for the week here. There will be weekly insights and a new theme every week for the duration of the festival, designed to help all participants understand poetry more, and more readily consume it.

The festival is aimed at promoting the reading of poetry,as opposed to the listening of poetry, like in spoken word. This is guided by the fact that reading poetry is the purest form of consuming the art,as it allows for the reader to use his or her wild imagination in understanding the poem, greatly enriching the experience, free from influence outside the readers mind.Statistically, more people in Kenya are appreciating poetry by reading it as opposed to hearing verse spoken. We encourage the trend.

Participating readers stand to benefit by gaining more knowledge on poetry, and getting an abundance of poems to read, for free!Readers also stand to have a say in who wins in the poetry contests as popularity is one measure,so your participation matters to others too!

The festival is aimed to encourage many more people to take up the writing,as well as the reading of poetry,by enriching their knowledge of poetry, and providing them with a premier site where they can read poems from different Kenyan artists, the site house of money. Now that you are here,we encourage you to tell your friends about the festival, and to actively participate in it!We highly appreciate your interest.
